Peter
Campbell commenced work with Price Waterhouse in Sydney in 1965, working for
seven years within the audit section. He then joined with Bruce Morison in establishing
Morison Campbell, with offices in Sydney and Campbelltown, specialising in small
business services encompassing taxation and accounting advice. This firm provided
computerised accounting services to small business along with accounting, audit
and taxation services. In July 1991 the firm merged to form a Sydney-based firm
of six partners, 21 professional staff and a total of 35 staff. In November 1999
he left to establish RP Campbell Associates Pty Limited and join the JHI International
network of 150 accounting firms and business advisory firms in 55 countries,
www.jhi.com. Clients include small to medium-sized businesses, professional firms
and self-employed people.
Peter Campbell is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, the Taxation Institute of Australia, and the Institute of Company Directors, a registered company auditor, tax agent, and a licensed real estate agent. He has particular interests in technology, insurance, healthcare and property sectors and assisting businesses with strategic planning and start-ups. He has been an active participant in the ICA’s Small Business Workshop programme for more than 25 years. As a keen yachtsman he is a member of the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron.
He was appointed a Non-Executive Director of Sonic Healthcare Limited in January 1993, Silex Systems Limited in July 1996 and SciGen in August 1999 (resigned February 2005). He was appointed Chairman of LifeCare Health Limited in October 1999 and Executive Chairman in January 2002. He resigned in August 2002 after a successful merger with Foundation Healthcare Limited (now The Independent Practitioners Network Limited). All companies are listed on the Australian Stock Exchange. He is or has been on the Remuneration and Audit Committees of all Boards.
Sonic, www.sonichealthcare.com.au, with total revenues exceeding $A1.6 billion, has a strong growth history and is the largest medical diagnostics company in Australia and New Zealand. Sonic in 2002 expanded into the UK by acquiring The Doctors Laboratory in London and in April 2004 into Germany with the acquisition of 55% of the Schottdorf pathology group. During 2005 Sonic acquired an 82% majority interest in CPL in USA.
Silex, www.silex.com.au was established in 1988 as the research subsidiary of Sonic and has been developing a unique laser based isotope separation technology since 1992. The company is currently pursuing potential commercial applications of SILEX Technology in uranium enrichment (for nuclear fuel for electricity production), and silicon enrichment and carbon enrichment (for advanced semiconductor materials). Silex has successfully demonstrated technical feasibility of its core technology and has expanded its interests with investments in synergistic opportunities in the semiconductor and photonics fields.
SciGen, www.scigen.com.au is a biopharmaceutical company incorporated in Singapore but listed on the Australian Stock Exchange.
LifeCare, provided a comprehensive range of services to physiotherapists and dentists who conduct their own practices as part of the LifeCare Franchise system.
In May 2001 he was appointed a Non-Executive Director and Chairman of St Laurence
Australia Limited. St Laurence is a subsidiary of St Laurence Group Limited,
www.stlaurence.co.nz, which is incorporated in New Zealand and has over $NZ1
billion of property under management. The Australian subsidiary is undertaking
a mezzanine financing and property development role in Australia while assessing
available opportunities.
Through RP Campbell Associates he will continue to provide management and strategic
planning advice, taxation, accounting and audit services to a close group of
clients whilst assisting in technology business start-ups.
In Meridian Property Management Pty Limited, as licensee, he provides property management services to owners of commercial and industrial properties and property investment advice generally.
